Dry machining but no flying chips!

Chip collection holder collects chips and discharges them in place, reduces chip splatter in dry machining

Prevents chips from scattering to the spindle side and reduces removal problems

60% recovery of chips during machining

30% reduction in cleaning time inside the machine

Amazing facts!

── Introducing ideas and technologies ──

The chip collecting holder utilises centrifugal force to prevent chips from scattering during machining by means of chip pockets on the cutter periphery, thereby preventing problems with spindle attachment and detachment.
Furthermore, after machining, chips can be discharged at a predetermined position by stopping the rotation.
Contributes to ‘reduced problems caused by chips’ and ‘reduced cleaning time’ in dry machining where in-machine cleaning is not possible.
Ideal for milling aluminium workpieces on vertical machining centres.

Development / product concept

“Current status and challenges”

  • There is a growing need for dry and MQL machining without the use of cutting oil as an environmental consideration.
  • In dry MQL machining, chips cannot be washed away with cutting oil, so it takes time to clean the machine and chips adhere to the spindle.

“Development points”

  • The chip collecting holder is equipped with a chip collecting cover that utilises centrifugal force to control the discharge of chips.
  • The holder can collect chips and discharge them at a predetermined position, improving the machine environment due to chip scattering faced in dry and MQL machining and contributing to improved productivity.
