Amazing facts!

── Introducing ideas and technologies ──

The chip accumulation prevention cover is a jig attached to functional parts to prevent chip accumulation.
To cope with the environment inside the machining center, each functional part is made of CFRP additive manufacturing with high strength, heat resistance, and coolant resistance.
In addition, the free-form design enables chip accumulation to be suppressed with a high injection nozzle and a cover that does not obstruct injection, in accordance with the existing jig.
By simply attaching to existing jigs, chip accumulation can be prevented and “production efficiency improvement” can be realized.

Appearance and role

Coolant injection removes chips accumulated on the top of the base.

Air injection generates vacuum and evacuates chips with suction force.

Curved cover on clamper foot prevents chip accumulation and improves chip evacuation.

“Current status and challenges”

  • Chip evacuation on jigs has many problems. In particular, chips tend to accumulate in areas where coolant does not easily hit the jig or in corners of the jig where coolant does not flow easily, resulting in defective machining and equipment short stops, and countermeasures were required.

“Development points”

  • The “chip accumulation prevention cover” prevents chip accumulation with a high coolant injection nozzle attached to the jig and a cover that does not obstruct the coolant flow.
  • CFRP material and additive manufacturing has been used for the nozzle and cover. These technologies are suitable to create complex shapes with a high degree of freedom, and are also heat resistant and coolant resistant, so they can be used in the machining environment.
  • Without modifying the existing jig, the cover contributes to productivity improvement by preventing problems caused by chip accumulation.
