Amazing facts!

── Introducing ideas and technologies ──

The Gear chamfering unit has compression and cutter driven function, making it suitable for using in general-purpose machines for roll/chamfering (phrasing) operations.
The cutter is driven, making phase alignment of the cutter to the workpiece unnecessary.
The built-in spring enables the meshing pressure to be adjusted to suit the cutter size.
Contributes to multi-product production and reduced capital investment in gear machining.

What is gear phrasing?

Gear phrasing is a process used for chamfering the end faces of gears at both ends.
After machining with a hob or pinion cutter, both ends of the gear edge is chamfered by rolling (plastic forming) to remove burrs generated during gear cutting.

Development / product concept

“Current status and challenges”

  • Conventional gear teeth roll chamfering (phrasing) was mainly carried out on special-purpose machines, which required a large investment in equipment and were not compatible with all gear types.

“Development points”

  • The Gear tooth chamfering unit has a built-in compression and cutter driven mechanism, making it possible to use the Gear Cutter on a general-purpose machine for phrasing.
  • The built-in spring enables the engagement pressure to be adjusted to suit the cutter size.
  • The cutter can be replaced by a quick-change system, contributing to multi-product production and reduced capital investment.
