The Flexible Tool Stage is a plastic jig that can hold a tool to be attached to a microscope for imaging.
The component parts are made of CFRP additive manufacturing and have a high strength-to-weight ratio, enabling it to hold long objects and hold them attached to the holder while being lightweight.
In addition, it will not be damaged even if it comes in contact with tools or equipment. Mounting on the microscope and detachment of the work holding stand are all tool-less and easy to operate, and quick changeover is possible to capture a variety of measurement objects, contributing to “work time reduction”.

“Current status and challenges”
- The following problems existed in imaging work using a microscope.
- The stage is too small and large objects cannot be photographed.
- Cannot take pictures while the microscope is still attached to the holder.
- Tools are required for operation.
- Conventional jigs are made of metal and are heavy, causing damage when they come in contact with the object to be measured or the equipment.
- Since the jig cannot be fixed, it takes time for repetition or photographing by the operator.
“Development points”
- The “Flexible Tool Stage” uses CFRP additive manufacturing for its components. It has a high strength-to-weight ratio and can hold even long objects or holders attached to it despite its light weight.
The resin body will not cause scratches even if it comes in contact with tools and equipment. - Installation on the microscope and replacement of the holding stand for the measurement object are all tool-less and easy to operate, and the positioning of the measurement object reduces repetitions and operator variations in imaging.
